SIZE DOESN'T MATTER

PETER BOYLE PROVES SIZE DOESN’T MATTER ON CRF250

Riding in only his fourth enduro event, Peter Boyle did what many have
described as amazing; he won his third outright off road national round
aboard his Honda CRF250.

“Originally I was nervous about being under powered, but once the race
started I realised that my Honda 250 had more than enough power for the
bush.  Actually it was better. It was easy to turn because it was
lighter.”

At Saturday’s 11th round of the national championships, Boyle said he
quickly learned from his mistakes.

“On the Saturday, we raced non stop for two hours which I’d never done
before.  I soon realised the trees and I have nothing in common! In fact I
don’t like them.  I hit a few and had some big crashes, and if I hadn’t
crashed I would have finished higher,” Boyle said.

“I was happy with my fifth outright and second in the 250 class but I
would have preferred to finisher higher.  I did learn a lot on Saturday
about pacing myself and using my peripherals better, and I will definitely
be better prepared for the cross country tests next year.”

At the next day’s Round 12, the young rider regrouped and obtained some
much needed advice from Team Manager Yarrive Konsky, as well as from the
GHR Honda Team and AJ Roberts who wrapped up the title prior to the final
two rounds at Gwandalan, NSW.

“Yarrive reminded me to think about the track, and visualize what I had
learnt from walking it.  There is a lot to learn in a 1 ½ hour trek,” he
said smiling.

“By Sunday morning I felt great, and my mechanic Brenton – who travelled
down in the trusty old van with me – worked hard to make sure everything
gelled.”

“I still can’t believe I have won three out of the last four rounds of the
nationals.  It’s been an awesome experience and I must thank everyone who
has made this possible. “

“Bruce changed my suspension during the week and I set up some special
tests at home.  The boys at SHELL HONDA changed my bike, put on a larger
tank and arranged some new Pirelli’s.  It’s been a lot of fun and I must
thank them for all of their help.”

Although Boyle has not yet confirmed what he will be doing next year, his
intentions are to do a full season of off road, as well as race the Finke
or Hattah.

“I still want to race the motocross nationals whenever possible, but
basically I just want to keep on riding as much as I can.  This has been
an awesome year for me and the last half has been amazing.  I’d also like
to thank my parents for their full support.”
