2007 HART RIDE FOR LIFE ON TRACK

DUST OFF YOUR BIKE, BRUSH UP YOUR SKILLS AND SPRING BACK INTO RIDING -
2007 HART RIDE FOR LIFE ON TRACK

Every Spring hundreds of Victorian riders jump back on their bikes after a
winter break, and unfortunately this is associated with a spike in crashes
during the start of the warmer months.

In an effort to address this occurrence, HART and local RoadSafe groups
are again holding their Annual Ride For Life event.
This year’s event will be held at Tullamarine on Sunday, 21 and at Kilsyth
on Sunday, 11 November.
Ride for Life 2007 is shaping up to be the biggest and best event held so
far.
Now in its seventh year at Tullamarine and second year at Kilsyth, the
event offers road safety information, discounts on training and protective
riding gear, and services for two wheeled fans and enthusiasts.
Whether you are a serious road rider, scooter commuter, dirt bike devotee
or a riding novice, Ride for Life is a unique event that caters for people
of all ages and interests.
Over 1500 people attended Ride For Life between HART’s two Melbourne
Centres in 2006 with numbers continuing to grow each year as new
attractions are added.
As well as partnering with local RoadSafe groups, participants this year
will include, McLeod Accessories (importers of M2R, No Fear, DriRider and
much more); Draggin Jeans, Pirelli, and the No Fear Honda Race Teams.

Honda will provide Motorcycle Service workshops for those who want to
learn a bit more about their machines and how to prepare them for riding
after a winter break.
HART will also be launching its new on-road training program at this
year’s event, known as “Learners to Licence”. This course aims to give
learner permit holder’s additional training to better prepare them for
road riding and interacting with traffic.

HART has been running this course nationally for licensed riders for five
years, but can see the benefits of this type of training for learner
permit holders. Included in the course;

Hazard Perception Training using Honda's Riding Simulators to train new
riders to identify and respond to real life hazards on the road.
Additional riding skills not covered in the VicRoads curriculum
On-road training and feedback from HART’s professional instructors

Anyone who participates in the activities on the Ride for Life weekend
will go into the draw to win a Honda Lead 100 scooter as well as prizes
from our partners. Additional prizes include Draggin Jeans, Teknic
Leathers and a set of Pirelli tyres.

“We are aiming to make this both a scooter and motorcycle focused event
and people are free to come along at any time regardless of where their
interests lie,” said HART’s National Manager, Mark Collins.

“Primarily these events are about motorcycle safety,” he continued. “That
means we will be offering a lot of information, discounts and
opportunities with everything and anything to do with rider safety.”

Riders who show up in appropriate riding safety gear will also be eligible
to win free HART training.  Attendees will also have the chance to try out
HART’s Riding Simulators. These rider specific and innovative tools are
the only ones of their kind in the country and are considered one of the
best techniques for building hazard perception skills.

“We will have a safety advisor on hand to offer advice and information for
beginners as well as experienced riders,” Mark explained.

Additional features and displays to include:
• Heavily discounted motorcycle and scooter safety gear and clothing
• Learners Permit and Licence Test Demonstrations
• Maintenance and riding demonstrations
• Discounts on selected Rider Training courses booked and paid on the day
