The entire Red Bull KTM race team was back in
action this past weekend at Steel City Raceway
in Delmont, PA. |
|
|
This marked the 10th round of the AMA Motocross
Championship. On Saturday, it was hot and humid.
Sunday morning, teams showed up to a muddy track with
wet pits. However, by moto one of the Lites class, it
was pretty sunny.
Mike Alessi and Jeff Alessi were both ready to race
after their overall practice times were seen. Mike was
going to the gate fifth, and Jeff was eighth. The gate
dropped, and that familiar KTM 450SX-F was the first one
to make it into the first corner. Mike Alessi had
grabbed the holeshot! Jeff was mixed in the top 10
somewhere. Mike would go on to battle veteran Kevin
Windham for half of the moto before pulling away with
Red Bull KTM's first ever Motocross class moto win! The
little brother, Jeff came in with an impressive ninth
place. Needless to say, the entire Red Bull KTM team was
absolutely thrilled with their performances.
The second Motocross moto was very exciting all
around. With championship hunter Grant Langston, veteran
Kevin Windham, and Red Bull KTM's Mike Alessi battling
through the entire moto fans were given a great
show! All three of the riders did a great job. Langston
went on to take first, and the overall. Windham
claimed second, and Alessi fought to the end but took
third. Mike finished second overall on the day
though. Unfortunately, Jeff Alessi crashed in the first
turn and hurt his shoulder.
There are two races left in the series and 10 points
within the top four racers. "It's going to come down to
Glen Helen," Mike Alessi stated on the podium
today. Everyone on the Red Bull KTM team is anxious to
witness this showdown.
